PartMaker Programming Tips

This section provides some hints and tips for working in PartMaker:

Let PartMaker open frequently used files

PartMaker can open frequently used Post Configuration, Tool, Cycle and Material files automatically. If you are using only one:

  • Post Configuration, Tool or Cycle file, place those files in the PartMaker installation folder, so PartMaker opens them automatically.
  • Material file, make sure the Material subfolder of your PartMaker installation folder contains only the Material file you want PartMaker to open automatically.

Selecting geometry and part features

Selecting multiple geometric elements or part features

When working in selection mode (), you can select multiple geometric elements (when in CAD mode) or multiple part features (when in CAM mode) by:

  • holding down the Shift key and left-clicking on the geometric elements or part features you want to select; or
  • clicking and dragging a selection rectangle around the geometric elements or part features you want to select.

Selecting geometric elements by chain

In CAD mode, you can also select geometric elements by chain:

  1. Click to select a line or arc in a Face window in CAD mode.
  2. Select Edit > Select by Chain. PartMaker selects any adjacent lines and arcs that are connected to each other.
