Spindle Settings dialog - PartMaker/Turn-Mill

In PartMaker/Turn-Mill, the following settings are available on the Spindle Settings dialog.

Machine Type

Select the type of machine you are using:

  • Turn-Mill Center — Select this option for a machine with two parallel and opposite spindles. The Work Holding on the machine is either Chuck or Collet.
  • Bar-Fed Mill — Select this option for a machine with a bar feeder that has at least one of the following:
    • A sub-spindle capable of orienting at an angle that is not parallel to the main spindle.
    • A vise-type work holding on the sub-spindle.

Main Spindle

Sub-Spindle

  • Work Holding — Specify how the sub-spindle grips the part for machining:
    • Collet.
    • Chuck.
    • Vise (available only for bar-fed mill machines in PartMaker/Turn-Mill).
    • Tool Head Collet (available only for bar-fed mill machines in PartMaker/Turn-Mill)
  • Chuck Data — Click this button to display the Chuck Data dialog to set chuck parameters.
  • Vise Data — Click this button to display the Vise Data dialog to set vise parameters.
  • Sub-Spindle Home Orientation Angle — Specifies the orientation of the sub-spindle at the home position in Basic simulation. This option is available only for bar-fed mill machines.
  • Sub-Spindle Home Z Distance (Zh) — Specifies the Z-distance from the face of the main spindle to the face of sub-spindle in Basic simulation.
  • Sub-Spindle Home X Distance (Xh) — Specifies the X-distance from the face of the main spindle to the face of sub-spindle in Basic simulation. This option is available only for the following:
    • A collet work holding with a Home Orientation Angle of 90 degrees.
    • A chuck work holding with a Home Orientation Angle of 90 degrees.
    • A vise work holding with a Home Orientation Angle of 90 or 180 degrees.
    • A tool head collet with a Home Orientation Angle of 0 or 90 degrees.

Simulation Settings

  • Spindle(s) Transparency — Specifies the transparency of the spindle(s) during simulation. 0% creates a solid spindle, 100% creates a fully transparent (invisible) spindle(s).
  • Spindle(s) Color — Click this button to choose the color of spindle(s).
