Batch (What's New in 2024)

Copy-Paste Metadata

You can now copy attribute information (metadata) from any clip or Batch node to a node in the Batch Schematic. You can paste all available metadata, a specific metadata, or just a subset.

You can copy any clip or timeline segment outside Batch, or any node in the Schematic. You can only paste to a node in Batch.

To paste metadata to a Batch node:

  1. Right-click a node or clip and select Contextual menu > Copy.
  2. Open the Batch Schematic.
  3. Right-click the target node and select Contextual menu > Paste Special > All Metadata.
    Tip: Pasting with All Metadata is similar to the T+click shortcut.

Instead of pasting all available metadata, you can now paste only parts of it. In Contextual menu > Paste Special, you select the metadata to paste. Only the information relevant to the node are available. For example, you cannot paste a shot name on an GMask node, but you can paste it to a Render node.

To paste only a subset of the metadata:

  1. Open the Batch Schematic.
  2. Right-click the target node and select Contextual menu > Paste Special > Custom....
  3. In the Paste Special dialog box, click the Paste column to select the metadata to paste.

    Only the metadata relevant to the target node can be selected.

  4. Click Paste.

The following metadata is potentially available for pasting:

  • Name
  • Shot Name
  • Tape
  • Source Start Frame
  • Source Timecode
  • Record Timecode
  • Range/Duration
  • In/Out Marks
  • Keycode
  • Resolution
  • Resizing Options
  • Bit Depth
  • Frame Rate
  • Source Frame Rate
  • Colour Space
  • File Type
  • File Path
  • Channel Names
  • Current Action/GMask Tracer Output Name
  • Creation Date

T-click Pastes Resize and Destination

All attributes from the Resizing and Destination sections of the Resize menu are pasted when you T+click two clip nodes.

Multi-Channel and Write File Nodes Improvements

Expanded by Default

When you use Contextual menu > Add Render or Add Write File, the Multi-Channel Render and Write File nodes are now expanded by default.

Undoing a New Multi-channel Output Node

When you use Contextual menu > Add Render or Add Write File, you can easily undo the operation with the Undo menu.

In previous versions, you had to use the undo multiple times to remove an added Multi-Channel Render or Write File node.

Keep Connections

When you load a Batch setup but the multi-channel media cannot be found in the Workspace, the connections to the clip are now preserved. You can then drag your media from the media panel on the multi-channel clip.

All output sockets of a clip node are now preserved when its matching clip is deleted from the Media Panel.

Start Frame No Longer Editable

The Start Frame changes from a numeric field to a non-editable field so it is no longer possible to modify the value by mistake.

The drop-down button associated to the field now offers three options:

  • Change Start Frame: The calculator is opened so a new value can be defined.
  • Use Start Frame Value: The value set in Preferences → General → Start Frame is used.
  • Use First Clip Value: The start frame value of the first clip dropped in the Batch Group is used.
