If You Plan on Using Older Flame Family Products

Important: If you are planning to use a pre-2022.2 Flame Family on a workstation using DKU 17.1 or later, read the following section. If only plan on using versions 2022.2 or newer, you can safely ignore this section.

With the power management update available in more recent versions of Flame Family prodcuts, whenever you start a Flame Family, the software automatically switches to the autodesk power management profile and the NVIDIA performance mode. It switches back to balanced power management and NVIDIA auto mode when you exit.

Previous versions of Flame Family products do not know of this, and cannot manage power profiles. Using the balanced power management and not enabling NVIDIA performance mode can impact performances.

If you plan on using previous versions of Flame Family products on a workstation updated to DKU 17 or 18, switch to the autodesk power management profile before starting your software.

To use a pre-2022.2 version of Flame Family products with optimal performance:

  1. In a shell, enter: tuned-adm profile autodesk
  2. In the shell, enter: nvidia-settings
  3. In the PowerMizer menu, select Prefer Maximum Performance.
  4. Quit NVIDIA settings.

To return to the balanced power profile for 2022.2 and 2023, and conserve power:

  1. In a shell, enter: tuned-adm profile balanced
  2. In the shell, enter: nvidia-settings
  3. In the PowerMizer menu, select Auto.
  4. Quit NVIDIA settings.
