Selecting Your Shortcuts Profile

In the Keyboard Shortcuts Editor, you have the option to choose from one of the four pre-set keyboard shortcuts profiles provided by the application. Each profile assigns different keystrokes to various shortcuts. The available options are:

  • Flame
  • Smoke Classic
  • Smoke (FCP 7)
  • Lustre

Note: Changes made to the keyboard shortcuts catalogue are only applied to the current profile.

Selecting Your Keyboard Type

In the Keyboard Shortcuts Editor, you also have the option to select the type of keyboard you are using. This feature allows you to use the additional keys available on some keyboards.

When you select your keyboard type, the on-screen keyboard adjusts to reflect your choice, and the entries in the Keyboard Shortcuts catalogue update accordingly. If a keyboard shortcut is assigned to a key that isn't available on the selected keyboard, the Keyboard Shortcuts catalogue displays that entry in black.

Keyboard Shortcuts Catalogue

The default keyboard shortcuts provided with the application are found at /opt/Autodesk/presets/<version>/shortcuts/.

The modifications you make to the keyboard shortcuts are saved to different files, which are all associated to your operating system user. The shortcuts you modify take precedence over the default ones. These files are stored at the following locations:

  • Linux: /home/<user name>/flame/shortcuts/
  • macOS: /Users/<user name>/Library/Preferences/Autodesk/flame/shortcuts/

The keyboard shortcuts you modify are saved in files that are named using the following patterns:

  • user.shortcuts.<component>.json
  • user.shortcuts.<component>.buttons.json
Where: Means:
component The module that contains the keyboard shortcuts.
buttons The keyboard shortcuts in this type of file work only if their assigned buttons are visible.
