Saving and Loading Batch or Batch FX Setups
Batch and Batch FX setups can be saved and loaded. A setup is a file that contains the information about the clips, nodes, and settings present in the current iteration of a Batch Group or Batch FX.
Save Options
Click Save to quickly save a setup in the default destination. To access more saving options, click the drop-down beside the Save button.
Save Method | Description |
---|---|
Save Selected Items As | Save only the selected items to the destination of your choice. |
Save Selected Items | Save only the selected items to the current destination. |

Preferences can also be set to dictate behaviours related to saving setups. Both are available in the Batch & BFX Preferences
- Save Setup File: Enable to also save a setup file when saving a Batch Iteration.
- Save Backup on Exit: Enable to back up your setup on exiting Batch FX. This backup is used only if something goes wrong with the Batch FX setup, and is not accessible like the regular save that you can create within the module.
Load Options
Click Load to open a file browser. Use it to load in a setup in new Batch Group. To access more loading options, click the drop-down beside the Load button.

Saving Setups for Individual Nodes
Setups for the selected node in the Schematic can be saved and loaded. This setup file only contains the values and settings for that selected node. The node Load and Save buttons appear next to the node name field when a node is selected in the Schematic.
Clips, Media, and Batch Setups
A Batch or Batch FX setup contains information for the clips used, and the path to the media files each clip references.
This means that when you restore setup, Flame uses this information to first try and locate each clip in the Media Panel. If a clip is not available in the Media Panel, then Flame uses the clip's included media path to locate the media and relink it to the clip.
If either method works, the clip node in the Batch schematic displays the expected media.
If both methods fail, the clip is replaced by a black slate in the Schematic view.
Limitations
- Cache and proxies are not saved with the Batch or Batch FX setup. Manually cache or proxy the clips in the restored setup; use the context menu on each clip node.
- For the clips to properly relink to their media, the same media path must be available to the workstation loading the Batch or Batch FX setup.
- Batch or Batch FX setups from versions prior to 2017 Extension 1 only contain references to the clips, not their media. The setups will only restore clips that are present in the Media Panel, and cannot try to relink using the media path since that information is not present.
Nodes Unavailable in Flame Assist
All setups created in Flame and Flare can be loaded in Flame Assist. The nodes that are not available in Flame Assist are greyed out in the Schematic view and their settings cannot be modified. However, the complete setup can be rendered.
Lustre Node Deprecation ![](https://help.autodesk.com/cloudhelp/2025/ENU/Flame-Batch/images/new_2025_1.png)
The Lustre node, created in the Connected Colour Workflow with Lustre, can no longer be rendered inside legacy setups loaded in 2025.1 Update.
Messages are displayed to inform that the Lustre node can no longer be rendered when:
- A loaded Batch setup contains a Lustre node.
- A Batch setup contains a Lustre node and the user attempts to render it.
