Centralised Presets
Presets are handy for storing specific configurations or settings of a tool for later use. They are quickly accessed from a drop-down button or a file browser, depending on the tool.
The following tools can have presets:
- Action Transitions
- Animation Filters
- Batch Search
- Brushes in Tools Paint
- Conform Match Criteria
- IBL in Action
- Layouts
- Lens Flare in Action
- Media Export Presets
- Metadata Overlays
- Most Tools/Nodes
- Modular Keyer Startup Modes
- Node Bins
- Overlays
- Paste Special
- Pattern Browsing
- Scopes
- Timeline Search
Presets can be saved under three different categories: User, Project, and Shared. Some tools also come with factory presets under the Autodesk category. These categories appear in the drop-down or file browser where presets can be saved and loaded.
- User: Presets only visible to the current user.
- Project: Presets only visible in the current project.
- Shared: Presets visible to all users working on any project on a workstation. These presets can also be centralised for all workstations on the same network.
- Autodesk: Factory presets read from
/opt/Autodesk/presets/<version>/
. These presets are installed with the application.
Centralise Shared Presets
Presets saved under the Shared category are, by default, stored on disk in the /opt/Autodesk/shared/
directory. In this case, these presets are visible to all users working on any project on a workstation. However, the location of the shared presets can be centralised using the sysconfig.cfg file, making presets available on all workstations in the same facility.
As an example, to make a Media Export Preset available on all workstations follow these steps:
Set the Media Export settings to the desired state. In the image below, Include Subtitles is enabled and the Burn in Image option is selected for a Movie File export.
Save the Media Export Preset to the Shared location.
Move the preset to a central location accessible by multiple workstations.
Set a different location for the 'export/presets/movie_file' directory in the sysconfig.cfg file of multiple workstations.
After the application is restarted, the preset appears in the Shared category of the Format Preset drop-down button for all workstations.
