Accessing Batch

The Batch compositing environment can be quickly accessed at any time directly from the Editing panel.

To access Batch:

  1. Click the Batch tab at the bottom of the screen.

The setup of the current Batch group, represented by the yellow Batch group icon in the Media panel, is opened. If multiple Batch groups are available in the Desktop, click the icon of a Batch group in the Media panel to set it as the current Batch group. This can also be achieved by opening the context menu of a Batch group and selecting Set as Current Batch.

Adding Clips to a Batch Group

Add clips and nodes to the Batch schematic in order to build process trees and create effects.

Switching between tabs such as Timeline or Tools does not discard any work in Batch. Batch clips can be opened as sequences in the Timeline by right-clicking the clip node in the Batch schematic and selecting Open if the clip is already a sequence or Open As Sequence if the clip is a source.

Imported media is stored in the Media panel in one or more of the following folders:

  • Schematic Reels
  • Batch Shelf

In each Batch, there are three Schematic reels and one Batch Shelf created by default. This can be changed by editing the Default Reels Number fields in the Media Panel Preferences. A Batch Renders reel is also provided under Batch Shelf as the initial destination for any rendered clips.

Note: The Default Reels Number fields were deprecated in 2026.2 Update and replaced with the ability to set the default Reels of a Batch group in the Media Panel System Preferences.
Tip: Use drag and drop to quickly move media: Drag media from anywhere in the Media panel or library to another folder to create a copy. Drag from the Media panel to the schematic to add a clip to the top reel. Drag a clip onto the Batch icon to create a new reel with the clip's name.

Defining the Default Reels in a new Batch Group

Use the Default Batch Group Reels list in the Media Panel System Preferences to set the number, names, and colour of reels added in a new Batch group created in the Media Panel.

Clearing a Batch Setup

To clear a Batch setup, from the Media panel, right-click the Batch group, and select Clear Batch Group.

All nodes and sources are cleared, and any unsaved changes to the current Batch setup are lost.
