RGBA Timeline FX export

You can now export an RGBA Timeline FX as RGBA media files, either as Movie or File Sequences.

Guidelines

  • The Timeline FX with Alpha channel must not be composited on a background, and Comp FX is disabled.
  • For vertical compositing with Comp FX, the bottom element part of a composite does not have Comp FX enabled.
Note: Working with Multi-Channel content with Timeline FX. Since Timeline FX does not support channels other than Red Green Blue and Alpha channels, only RGBA channels are available for Media Export.

Sequence Publish-specific guidelines:

  • When you publish a sequence and enable Publish Option Media with FX, segments with Timeline FX are published as RGBA if you enable Video Options Include Alpha (Multi-Channel for OpenEXR).
  • If you publish segments with RGBA TimelineFX, the re-imported content is now RGBA.
  • You can publish RGBA media files out of multi-channel segments generated from Commit Timeline FX or created in Batch.

Apple ColorSync Compatibility Mode (QuickTime export)

In previous versions, QuickTime Rec.709 content could display a slight gamma shift when viewed in a macOS ColorSync-managed applications—QuickTime Player, Safari, or Final Cut Pro X. This is also known as the ColorSync-QuickTime NCLC tag issue.

To solve this issue, use the new Media Export option for QuickTime movie files. The new ColorSync Compatible button only applies to Rec.709 content and doesn't affect other color spaces: it is perfectly safe to keep it enabled when you export to other color spaces.

The export presets for QuickTime and Final Cut Pro have been updated to have ColorSync Compatibility enabled by default.

Automatic DPX Colour Metadata from Colour Space Tagging

When exporting DPX files from Media Export and a Write File node, the Transfer Type and the Colour Type metadata is now inherited from the content Colour Space tag.

You can override this by setting Transfer Type and Colour Type in Media Export.

Other Improvements

FBX: You can now export FBX version 2020.2 files.
