Type (What's New in 2026)

Indicates a feature suggested and voted up by users on the Flame Feedback portal.

Use the Type tool to add text, titles, rolls, and crawls to a clip or sequence. Type replaces Text, now considered a legacy tool.

Highlights include:

• Better integration in Batch, Batch FX, and in the Timeline, including support for:

  • Multiview.
  • Colour management.
  • Context views.

• Revamped user interface and workflows.

• Layers management using the Layers List.

• A revamped font workflow, including:

  • A redesigned Select Font widget.
  • Project-based fonts, allowing modification of multiple instances of Type at once.
  • Support for font styles.
  • Support for font case selection.
  • Support for Adobe fonts.
  • Better handling of missing fonts.

• Improved kerning workflow.

• Improved underline, outline, background, and shadow attributes.
