You can create map themes to customize the icons and colors shown on the network map, as well as the zoom level or visibility of the different layers.
Everyone can create their own map themes. For non-admin users, these will be visible only to you, not shared with the rest of your company. For Admin users, there is an option to share themes with the whole company.
Create a Theme for the Network Map
To customize the map display:
- Select the layers icon
- Select Add a New Theme and give the theme a name. Or select an existing theme that you want to edit and then select Theme Editor.
Note: If you are an Admin, you can choose to mark the Share with Company box to make this theme available to everyone.
- Select the layer or asset type you want to customize.
- Edit the properties. You will see a preview of the changes you apply displayed on the map.
- Then click Save.
) while you have the Theme Editor open and save these as part of the theme. If you adjust the layer visibility while just viewing the map, these settings will not be saved as part of the theme and will be reset when you leave or refresh the map.
Color by Attribute
For GIS layers, you can choose to color-code based on one of the available attributes for that layer. For example, for a pipes layer, you could select the attribute 'material' and this will color-code pipes on the map based on their material. You can do this in the Theme Editor by selecting Color by Attribute instead of Fixed Color.
For asset layers, there is a set list of attributes to choose from. When you select one, the system will tell you if you have data mapped and available for that attribute.
For spatial layers, you can choose from the attributes that you mapped for that layer.
Color by value range
You can also color GIS layers based on a range of numerical values. For example, you could color pipes based on an attribute range such as diameter.
You can do this in the Theme Editor by selecting Attribute and then selecting an attribute from the drop-down that has a range of numerical values.
You can add rows to the range, and you can use the Distribute Range button
to evenly distribute the numbers.
Similarly, you can choose the colors associated to each row or use the Distribute Colors button
or Select Gradient for Range
button to create a color range.
Zoom level
In the Theme Editor you can adjust the zoom level at which layers are shown, on a range of 2 (least zoom) to 22 (most zoom). For example, if you only want to see observations from CCTV inspections on the map once you are very zoomed in, you might set the zoom range to 16 - 22.
You can see your current zoom level in the URL, after the map coordinates. In this example URL the zoom level is shown in bold:

Change basemap
Choose from a selection of Esri and Mapbox basemaps. You can find these in the Layers panel
