To apply ambient occlusion

Specify a level of ambient occlusion. Use ambient occlusion to showcase your model or turn it off to speed rendering. When ambient occlusion is on, surrounding features throw soft shadows on neighboring features. When off, surfaces reflect only direct sunlight, without taking into account surrounding features.

Enabling ambient occlusion can affect program performance depending on your graphic card and the application window size.

To apply ambient occlusion

  1. Click settings (Application Options) in the Toolbar.

  2. Click 3D Graphics.

  3. Set Ambient Occlusion to High, Medium, or Off . Select an ambient occlusion setting that works best with your graphics card.

    • High uses Ambient Occlusion Volumes (AOV). It produces better quality with fewer artifacts, but uses significantly more resources to render.

    • Medium uses Screen-Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO), has less impact on performance and is supported by a broader range of graphics hardware.
