To set model generation options

You can regenerate a model and specify how application options will be applied to the model.

  1. Click settings(Application Options) in the Toolbar.
  2. Select the Model Generation tab. |Generator Thread|
Generator Thread Specify the number of CPU threads allocated to model generation.
Building Fascade Detail Use with Facade Atlas Limit. Selecting for greater detail may effect performance slightly.
  • High allows you to see detailed 3D facade when zooming close to a building. Facades transition to textured, then to colored as you move farther from them.
  • Medium allows you to see textured facade when zooming close to a building. Facades transition to textured, then to colored as you move farther from them.
  • Low allows you to see simplified facade when zooming close to a building. Facades transition to color as you move farther from them.
Facade Atlas Limit Specify the distance at which facades transition from the textured to colored level.
Terrain Simplification Increase the value to reduce the terrain complexity (the number of triangles used to create the terrain). To see the difference: zoom into terrain and compare wireframe views before and after changing this setting and regenerating. This setting applies to the actual terrain, not the grid you see when you are farther away.
Coverage Search Radius Specify the radius of the terrain to adjust when changing coverage. Adjusting the height of coverages or water areas affect the areas surrounding the feature you changed. By default, InfraWorks adjusts only areas close to the changed feature. This can cause cracks in areas that are slightly farther away. These cracks cannot be resolved by regenerating the model. Increase either radius to ensure that InfraWorks takes a wider area into account when accounting for elevation changes.
Water Area Search Radius Specify the radius to adjust when changing water elevation. You can adjust the radius for water separately from that for coverages because water areas typically require a much smaller radius.
Facade Brightness Indicate whether to remove shadows from facades near the ground and in concave areas where sun exposure is reduced.

Tips:
  • After changing the Facade Brightness setting, the model must be regenerated to see the effect.
  • The option applies only to procedurally generated buildings, not to imported ones.
  • The visual difference is subtle; this setting is used to obtain clean white building facades when used with the Sun Color off setting (View Settings).
Delayed Road Regeneration Edits made to roadways in the model or Profile View do not cause a model regeneration until the edits are committed. This feature overrides the default behavior in which every modification to road centerline geometry causes model regeneration.
    • To commit one or more edits, press Ctrl+Enter, or click in the Stack or another part of the interface so the focus is no longer on the Profile View or model.
    • In the Profile View, edits made while Delayed Road Regeneration is on are not reflected in the model until all the edits have been committed.
    • You can undo and redo in the model and within the Profile View without committing the edits by using Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y.
