Set Application Options
- Click File
Options.
- In the Application Options dialog box, click the appropriate tab, and enter values and select settings.
- To apply changes immediately, click Apply. Unapplied changes become effective when you click OK and close the dialog box.
Import or Export Application Options
You can import a set of application options from a valid .xml file, including default options, and options that are AutoCAD related. You can export a set of application option settings to a valid .xml file.
- Click File
Options.
- At the bottom of the Application Options dialog box, click Import, or Export.
- Import. In the Open dialog box, navigate to an .xml file, and click Open.
Note: It is not necessary to include every application option in your .xml file. A partial list of application options is acceptable for Application Options settings import.
- Use AutoCAD Related Settings. Provides a feel similar to AutoCAD settings.
- Use Inventor Settings. The default Application Options settings install.
- Export. In the Save Copy As dialog box, specify the name of the .xml file, and click OK.
Note: The export operation uses the current settings in Application Options settings, even if you did not yet apply them.
- Import. In the Open dialog box, navigate to an .xml file, and click Open.
Set Default Preferences
Apply the AutoCAD-related or Inventor-related default preferences that are provided in your application.
- On the ribbon, click

Customize.
- Click Import in the Application Options dialog box.
- In the Open dialog box, navigate to an .xml file, and click Open.
- Click Apply. Close the Application Options dialog box.
- On the ribbon, click

Customize .
- Select the Keyboard tab in the Customize dialog box.
- For AutoCAD-related preferences, select the checkbox for Use default multi-character Command Aliases.
For Inventor-related preferences, clear the checkbox for Use default multi-character Command Aliases.
- Close the Customize dialog box.
