The following file types can be imported into an open Inventor file using the appropriate Insert command:
- 2D DWG and DXF files can be used in Inventor sketches to create features:
- On the ribbon, click Sketch tab

Note: By default, geometry imported using the Insert AutoCAD File command has the endpoint constrained. Disable this option as required. - On the ribbon, click Sketch tab
- 3D DWG and DXF files can be used in Inventor 3D sketches to create features:
- In part (.ipt) files: On the ribbon, click Sketch tab

Note: Make sure Constrain End Points is selected to connect the endpoints of the imported geometry. - In part (.ipt) files: On the ribbon, click Sketch tab
- From a Part file, click Manage tab
