Downloading Results

This topic describes how you can download results for cloud simulations from the Explorer window.

Simulation results may need to be downloaded when:

  • Results are not available locally in your local results folder. The simulation status icon for these results are displayed in a faded colour (, , , or ) in the Explorer window. Such results may not be available locally because:
    • Local results for the simulation have been either deleted from the Explorer window or the Results Management view.
    • The No results option was selected in the Download Cloud Results dialog, and therefore were not automatically downloaded when the simulation was complete.
    • Someone else in your organisation ran the simulation for a database that you share access to.
  • Only summary results are available locally and you want to download the full results (time-varying and summary) for a simulation to your local results folder. The simulation status icon for results available in your local results folder are displayed in full colour (, , or ) in the Explorer window.

Download results that are not available locally

You can use any of the following methods to download results that are not available locally:

  • Right-click on a simulation with a faded status icon and select either Download full results or Download summary results from the popup menu.
  • Open a single simulation with a faded status icon. A message is displayed asking if you want to download the results now.
    • Click Yes. The Download Cloud Results dialog is now displayed.
    • Click either Full results (if you want to download time-varying and summary results) or Summary results only (if you do not want to download full results).
    • Click OK.
  • Open several items in the Explorer window. These can include a mixture of simulations with and without local results as well as any other database items you may want to open, such as a network. If the items to be opened include any simulations without local results, a message is displayed informing you how many results need to be downloaded and asks if you want to download the results now.
    • Click Yes. The Download Cloud Results dialog is now displayed.
    • Click either Full results (if you want to download time-varying and summary results) or Summary results only (if you do not want to download full results). The selected type will be applied to all the results that are to be downloaded.
    • Click OK.
Note: If the selection of database items includes any for a simulation that has no results in the cloud, for example, when the simulation is still being processed in the cloud, a suitable message is displayed, and those simulations will not be opened.

The status of the results being downloaded can be viewed in the Job Control window.

When successfully downloaded, the status of the simulation will appear in full colour (, , or ) in the Explorer window, and a copy of the result files will be stored in your results local folder.

You can view the results as described in the Results topic.

Download full results

You can use either of the following methods to download full results from the cloud:

  • Right-click on a simulation with a full colour status icon and select Download full results from the popup menu. The downloaded process starts and its status can be viewed in the Job Control window.
  • Open a simulation result with a full colour status icon.

When such a simulation is opened in the GeoPlan window and only summary results are available locally, a toaster message, similar to the one shown below, appears:

Tip: If you double-click on this message, another message is displayed that provides more information about how you can download full results.

If a toaster message appears, and want to download the full results, then:

    • Ensure that the simulation with summary results is open in the GeoPlan window.
    • Either click (Download full results) on the Replay toolbar or select the Results replay Download full results option from the Network menu.
Note: Both these options are disabled for a simulation which already has full results available locally.

The download process starts and the status of the results download can be viewed in the Job Control window.

    • Close the GeoPlan. You can do this during the download process or when it is complete.

If you do not close the GeoPlan, a toaster message, similar to the one shown below, appears when the download is complete:

Tip: If you double-click on this message, another message is displayed warning you that any GeoPlan windows that use these results will need to be re-opened.

Full results are now available in your local results folder, and you can view them as described in the Results topic.
