Custom graphs provide a powerful method of creating and saving customised graphs, and are stored as custom graph objects in the database.
Available custom graph styles are:
- Observed / Predicted report - observed results against predicted results.
- Simulation per page report - InfoWorks networks only - data from each simulation is graphed on a different page. If there is more than one object selected, there will be multiple traces (one trace per object) on each graph.
- Object per page report - InfoWorks networks only - each object in the Selection box is graphed on a different page. If multiple simulations have been selected there will be multiple traces (one trace per simulation that has results for the selected object) on each graph.
- Flexible report - the graphing of time varying data and simulation results can be customised using the Flexible Grid Window in the Layout Page.
- Extreme value analysis report - fits a selected statistical distribution to peak values determined from an Episode Collection (InfoWorks networks only), and simulation results or time varying data.
Custom graphs can be displayed in two views. The data view enables you to specify the graph source data, the attributes to graph and the overall graph styles, while the graph view displays the actual graphs. The data view is displayed in the
Custom Graph View while the graphs are displayed in the
Graph View. Both views contain a Graph View toggle button () which enables you to switch between the views.
Creating a New Custom Graph
There are two ways of creating custom graphs:
- In the
InfoWorks ICM main menu, select Results
Custom graphs.
- Select one of the available styles, and the Custom Graph View is displayed. Use this view to define the data that will be displayed in the custom graph.
Alternatively, you can create a new custom graph via the InfoWorks ICM tree view :
- Right-click on a Model Group
- Select New
InfoWorks
Custom graph or New SWMM
Custom graph
- The Custom Graph dialog is displayed
- Enter the name which is to be used to identify this report, choose a style (see list of available styles above) and click on OK
- The custom graph appears in the tree view, with an icon design depending on the style selected
Opening a Custom Graph
To open a custom graph:
- double-click or right click on the graph object on the tree view and choose Open to open the graph. The object will be opened in the Graph View (graph view).
- right click on the graph object and choose Open As, then choose either Data to open the Custom Graph View or Graph to open the Graph View. If you have not yet specified any data for the custom graph, only the Data option is available.
Once the graph opened in either data or graph view, you can use the Graph View toggle button () to switch between views. Note that the toggle button is only enabled when the data required to generate the graph has been specified.
Setting Up Custom Graph Data
Custom graphs are set up on the Custom Graph View.
The pages on the Custom Graph View are:
- Data page - defines the source of the data to be displayed (applies to object per page and simulation per page reports for InfoWorks networks only)
- Layout page - defines the individual parameters to be plotted
- Properties page - defines the Y-axis and the parameters for the graph, such as attributes, titles, and maximum and minimum values (applies to observed / predicted reports only)
- X-Axis page - defines the X-axis and its parameters, such as maximum and minimum days/time, autoscale, and axis colour.
- Traces page - defines the style for each trace on the graph via the Trace Style Dialog (applies to object per page and simulation per page reports for InfoWorks networks only)
- General Page - controls the display of grid lines on the graphs, and additional text information at the top and bottom of the page
Refer to the help topics for the individual pages for more details on how to set up graphs.
Listed below is a generic set of instructions on how to set up a custom graph:
- In the Data or Layout page (depending on the selected style), drag and drop one or more simulations (or time-varying data for Flexible style) and one or more selection lists (Results Analysis for InfoWorks network data can also be dragged and dropped).
- The Traces, X Axis and General pages can be used to control the trace style and the X-axis parameters, graph layout and legend.
- The Properties page can be used to define the Y-axis and parameters for the graph, such as attributes, titles, and maximum and minimum values (applies to observed / predicted reports only)
- Once finished, click on the Save button of the Custom Graph View toolbar.
- Click on the Graph View toggle button (
) to display the graph in Graph View.
Editing Custom Graph Data
Custom graphs can be edited using the Custom Graph View. To display this window either:
- double-click or right click on the custom graph object on the tree view and choose Open to open the graph. The object will be opened in the
Graph View (graph view). When opened, you can use the Graph View toggle button (
) to switch to the Custom Graph View.
or
- right click and choose Open As, then choose Data to open the Custom Graph View.
