Finding GIS objects

Objects in additional GIS layers loaded on the Map view can be searched for using the Find window. The search is performed by matching text or strings in GIS layer fields:

  1. Open the Find window.
  2. Display the GIS Find pane (if it is not already showing), by clicking the GIS Find button.
  3. Select a GIS layer in the Layer dropdown list.
  4. Specify the field to be searched from the Fieldname one dropdown list.
    • The accompanying input box changes depending on the Fieldname One type (Expression for text field, Integer Min and Max for Integer field and Floating Min and Max for floating point field).
    • To search for a specific road / street on the network, type in a full or partial road name (and select the Group features option).
  5. A second field and expression/range may be specified in Fieldname two (unless the Group features option is chosen).
  6. If required, use the Stop searching after N features are found box to set the maximum number of returned results. The search will stop once this limit (N) has been reached.
  7. If required, enable the Group features option. This is particularly useful for finding streets or roads on the network.
  8. Click the Search button.
  9. Note:

Please bear in mind that a GIS Find search can be slow. The search is performed inside the GIS package, not within IWLive Pro Operator Client. It is therefore recommended to select a maximum number of items to return that is the smallest possible.

The Matched GIS objects list contains all the GIS objects found.

You can select some or all of the objects found by your search on the Map view by clicking the Find on GeoPlan button.
