Long Section window

This window displays a cross-section through the length of a selected run of network objects.

One way to open the window is by selecting the Long section pick (Long section pick) tool from the Tools toolbar and clicking a node or link object (or run) on the GeoPlan. Other ways are described in Displaying a long section.

Using this window you can:

  • inspect a run of nodes and links
  • edit network objects by accessing their property sheets
  • view simulation results
  • when scenarios are used, you are able to display more than one set of simulation results, which makes it easy to compare them
  • insert a node into a link displayed in the window

You can have several long section windows open at the same time.

Long section context menu

Right-clicking over the long section displays a menu with the following options:

Set as target

Makes the current long-section window the target window. You can then use the Long section pick (Long section pick) tool on the Tools toolbar to select a different section to display in the window.

Reverse long section

Reverses the direction in which the long section is viewed.

Clear long section

Removes the long section display from the current window.

Clear all annotation labels

Removes all custom labels from the current window.

Select nodes and links

The nodes and links displayed on the long section become selected in all windows. Selected network objects are highlighted in red.

Create from selection

Creates a long section view from the links that are currently selected on the GeoPlan.

Export long section data to AutoCAD DWG

Saves the current long section window to DWG format. The long section can then be opened and viewed in AutoCAD.

Export to surge animator Saves the current long section information to Surge Animate .PRO format. The long section can then be opened and viewed in Surge Animator.

Links grid

Opens a grid view of links displayed on the long section.

Nodes grid

Opens a grid view of nodes displayed on the long section.

Add page

Adds a page to the long section window after the current page.

Remove page

Removes the current page from the long section window.

Properties

Opens the Long Section Properties dialog. You can use this to change the way in which the long section is displayed, to include a strip-plan and node and link labels.

Mouse scroll wheel action

Scroll forward: zoom in.

Scroll backwards: zoom out.
