Create hair with spline primitives workflow example

This example demonstrates the common steps used to create and style hair with default splines.

It illustrates how to do the following:

  • Place and shape guides to create the general look of the hair style.
  • Specify the character's hairline by painting a Ptex-based Mask.
  • Create a hair part by painting a Ptex-based Region Map.
  • Generate Points maps for clumping maps.
  • Use Clumping modifiers to refine the hair style.
Important: Before starting, make sure that you set the location of your Maya project. XGen creates a number of files, such as Ptex map files, that need to be referenced from the Maya project directory.
