Define template brush settings

Each time you paint a stroke, Paint Effects creates a new brush and attaches it to the stroke. The Template Brush Settings define the initial settings for this brush, such as brush profile, paint color (shading), and mesh attributes. These settings can be reviewed and adjusted in two locations: the Paint Effects Brush Settings window, and in the Attribute Editor for the brush node. Any changes you make to the template brush settings affect what the next stroke looks like, but do not affect any previously painted strokes.

To open the Paint Effects Brush Settings window, do one of the following:

  • In the Modeling menu set, select Generate > Template Brush Settings.
  • In the PaintEffects shelf, click Template Brush Settings .
  • In the Panels > Panel > Paint Effects panel, click Edit Template Brush on the toolbar.
  • In a drawing, select a brush stroke, then in the Attribute Editor, select the related brush node.
  • Use the Ctrl-b (Windows and Linux) or Control-b (Mac OS X) hotkey combination.

Review and adjust the template brush settings, as described in Paint Effects Brush Settings and its subtopics.
