Troubleshoot material and texture swatches do not appear in the Hypershade

Your swatches do not render in the Hypershade

  • You may have disabled the option to render swatches upon startup.

    In the Preferences window (Windows > Settings/Preferences > Preferences), Display section, ensure that Render swatches (startup) is enabled.

  • You may have paused swatch rendering in the Hypershade.

    If the pause materials and textures swatch generation button is set to , toggle the button to to enable swatch rendering.

  • The resolution of your file texture is higher than the maximum resolution setting for rendering swatches.

    Increase the maximum resolution setting for swatches. In the Preferences window, Display section, select a higher resolution from the Max res. for swatches drop-down list.

    You can also render an individual swatch by right-clicking the swatch and selecting Refresh Swatch from the marking menu.

Your swatches do not appear in the Hypershade browser

You may have enabled a filter in the browser toolbar. Click the Show button and select Objects to check your filter settings. Click Clear Below to clear all filters. Verify also that you have not entered any text in the filter text box. See Hypershade Browser toolbar for more information.
