Create
- Create Hair
-
Lets you create dynamic nHair on NURBS or polygon surfaces. To have nHair collide with a surface, such as character's head or body geometry, create the hair system on polygonal surfaces. You can then convert the polygon object to a Nucleus passive collision object
Select
See also Create your own hair on surfaces.
- Get Hair Example
- Opens the Content Browser to the Hair Examples folder. Middle-drag a preset (wig) from the Content Browser into the scene to load it. See Create nHair using hair presets.
- Paint Hair Folicles
- You can use the
Paint Hair Follicles Tool to add dynamic hair to a NURBS or polygonal surface, to remove hair, or to paint follicle attributes of an existing hair system.
Select
See Paint hair follicles.
- Paint Hair Texture
- Lets you paint maps for various Hair attributes, such as baldness, hair color, and specular color.
See Paint hair textures.
Edit
- Assign Hair System
- Assigns the selection to the specified hair system, which can either be a new hair system or an existing hair system.
- Convert Selection
- Converts the current selection to one of the following: Follicles, Start Curves, Rest Curves, Current Positions, Hair Systems, Hair Constraints, or End CVs..
- Display
- Select the position in which you want the curves to display: Current Position, Start Position, Rest Position, Current and Start, Current and Rest,or All Curves. For descriptions of the curves and positions, see Choose which hair curves to display.
- Lets you convert selected curves into dynamic curves. Using these options, you can model the curves for your hair
before creating their hair systems or constraining them to a surface.
Select
- Modify Curves
- Lets you manipulate the hair curves when styling hair. Modify one curve or multiple curves at the same time, as well as CVs.
Select nHair Modify Curves Options.
to set - Set Rest Position
- Select this to set the position for the Start curves based on the Current Position (dynamic simulation) or the Rest Position. The Start Position represents the position of the hair at the start of the simulation. See Set hair curve positions.
- Set Start Position
-
Select this to set the position for the Rest curves based on either the Current Position (dynamic simulation) or the Start Position. The Rest Position represents the position of the hair when no forces are acting upon it. You can use these curves to influence the shape of the hair. See Set hair curve positions.
Tools
- Add Output Curves to Hair
- Adds NURBS output curves to hair follicles that do not already have output curves. Added output curves are based on the hair system's input curves.
Use this option to add NURBS output curves to a hair system created from Paint Effects or to replace output curves that have been deleted. You cannot use Add Output Curves to Hair to create a second node or a new hair system (for example, hairSytemShape node).
See nHair connections and nHair output.
- Assign Paint Effects Brush to Hair
- Takes the selected brush and assigns it to the current Hair system. Some tweaking of the brush settings may be required. For more information, see Assign a Paint Effects brush to Hair.
- Add Paint Effects Output to Hair
-
Adds a pfxHair node to the selected hair system if the one does not already exist. The Paint Effects output uses the existing hairSystemShape and hairSystemFollicles nodes. A pfxHair node appears in the Outliner.
Use this option to add Paint Effects output to a hair system created from NURBS output curves. You cannot use Add Paint Effects Output to Hair to create a second pxHair node or a new hair system (for example, hairSytemShape node).
See nHair connections and nHair output.
- Randomize Follicles
-
Let's you randomize the placement of hair follicles on a polygon mesh surface.
Use Range to specify the amount of randomization for the placement of follicles along the U and V directions. With a Range value of 0 there is no randomization and the follicles are lined up. With a value of 1 the follicles are extremely random.
- Scale Hair Tool
- Lets you change the scale of the selected hair system.
Drag right to make the hair larger or longer and drag left to make the hair smaller or shorter. See Adjust the hair length.
- Transplant Hair
- Lets you transplants a hair system to a NURBS or polygon surface.
Select
For details, see Transplant hair.
Delete
- Delete Hair
-
Deletes the selected hair curves, Paint Effects hair, or hair system nodes.Note: Not all hair system nodes will not be deleted. To delete the entire hair system, select .
See Delete nHair.
- Delete Entire Hair System
-
Removes the entire selected hair system and all its components (follicles, curves). For more information, see Delete hair.
