The Cut UV Tool lets you split UVs by dragging along edges. Press Ctrl to temporarily activate the Sew UV Tool and weld UVs together. When cut, UVs will move according to their individual pinning values (i.e. pinned UVs will stay put, while unpinned UVs will move by their Cut Open Ratio value). For more information on cutting edges, see Separate and attach UVs.
To open the Cut UV Tool, select it from the Cut & Sew section of the UV Toolkit or select Tools > Cut from the UV Editor menus.
Note: When moving between the
Viewport and
UV Editor, the
Cut Tool automatically changes to the
3D Cut and Sew Tool.
The following options appear in the
Tool Settings window when you select
Tools > Cut >
.
Brush Options
- Edge Select Sensitive
- Specifies the radius of the tool. Higher Edge Select Sensitive values increase the radius. Any edges that are within the radius when you drag your cursor across a shell are cut.
- Steady Stroke
- Helps to produce a smoother stroke by filtering mouse movement. When on, a vector displays on the tool cursor and no cut appears until you drag a distance equal to the length of the vector. The length of the vector is set by the Distance setting.
- Distance
- Sets the length of the Steady Stroke vector on the tool cursor.
- Cut Open Ratio
- Specifies the size of the gap between the split UVs. A higher value produces a wider gap.
- Display All Shell Borders
- When on, highlights shell borders. Sets of connected edges are displayed in different colors, making it easy to identify edges that are shared. Display All Shell Borders is off by default.
