Install Unreal Live Link for Autodesk Maya
Before installing, make sure you are running Maya 2020 or later, and Unreal 5.0 or later. Live Link requires a local installation of Unreal Engine to run properly.
You can install Unreal Live Link for Autodesk Maya on Windows or Linux. Do one of the following:
On Windows:
- Execute the .msi installer file and follow the instructions.
On Linux:
- Run the script './UnrealLiveLinkForMaya#.sh'
- if installed as 'su', the plugin will install to /usr/autodesk/ApplicationPlugins/UnrealLiveLinkForMaya
- otherwise, the plugin will install to $HOME/Autodesk/ApplicationPlugins/UnrealLiveLinkForMaya
The installer will install the Maya side of the plug-in, then automatically trigger a second install for the Unreal side. You can only cancel installation during the first (Maya) portion of this.
If you choose to install Live Link to a custom directory path, make sure to add that path to the MAYA_PLUG_IN_PATH and MAYA_SCRIPT_PATH environment variables in Maya.env.
Uninstall Unreal Live Link for Autodesk Maya
On Windows:
Open the Settings.
Select Apps to display a list of installed applications.
Click Unreal Live Link for Autodesk Maya.
Click Uninstall.
On Linux:
We recommend using OpenSSL 1.1.x. If your Linux distribution does not have OpenSSL 1.1 installed, you may see OpenSSL errors.
Quit Maya if you have it running. (Uninstalling the plug-in during an active Maya session will leave Maya unresponsive.)
Delete the install folder (as noted in the Installation section).
