Inbetweens offer a way to adjust animation timing by adding or removing one frame or time unit. Keys and Breakdowns preserve their tangent characteristics, resulting in a minimal change to existing animation curves. See Set Inbetweens.
Note: There are runtime commands that you can use to create a keyboard shortcut for creating Inbetweens. For the
Graph Editor, the commands are
Graph Editor Add Inbetween and
Graph Editor Remove Inbetween and for the
Dope Sheet they are
Dope Sheet Add Inbetween and
Dope Sheet Remove Inbetween. See
Assign a Hotkey to a command for more information about how to use keyboard shortcuts to trigger commands.

-
Using Add Inbetween will cause the animation’s keys to be shifted by one whole time unit forward from the current time.
-
Using Remove Inbetween will cause the animation’s keys to be shifted by one whole time unit backward from the current time.
