USD for Maya adds powerful new asset build tools with its Component Creator and Variant Manager.

Maya 2027 introduces a more powerful asset build workflow, enabling you to create fully self-contained, production-ready USD assets directly within Maya's UI using objects from your scene.
With the new Component Creator, you can convert selected objects into a structured USD stage with a single click. You can choose how those objects are composed: either combined into a single asset, or organized as variants. You can also apply a template file to control the resulting prim structure, making it easy to enforce consistent hierarchies and pipeline standards across all assets your team produces.
When assets are composed as variants, the new USD Variant Manager provides centralized control. It presents all variant sets in a clear, consolidated interface where you can switch active variants, as well as add, remove, or modify variant sets all in one place.
Use these new tools to streamline your asset authoring workflows, standardize structure, and give you more control over how production-ready USD assets are built and managed, all without leaving Maya.
This release also includes a number of other improvements and bug fixes. See USD for Maya 0.35.0 Release Notes for more information.
