Sequencer helps prepare camera shots for review and rendering by providing a modern, high-DPI editorial timeline that stays synchronized with Maya's playback, flexible Create Shot workflows, grouping and custom color-coding for shot organization, playback hotkeys, and editorial export (XML).
To open the Sequencer do one of the following:
- select .
- select .
- use the Sequencer Workspace.
Sequencer gives you tools to layout and manage camera shots, then produce rendered movie footage of the animation in your scene. You can start to layout shots in Maya, or by importing your own editorial files containing audio and video clip information. Even for large scenes, you can produce movie clips to achieve real-time playback.

In the Sequencer window, shots are represented as rectangles arranged on tracks. You define which camera is active at any point in time by editing the camera shots. When you are satisfied with the layout and timing, you can playblast movie clips of the animation.
Customize Sequencer colors
You can customize Camera Sequencer color preferences in the Color Settings panel.
