About MEP Content Editor
What is MEP Content Editor?
MEP Content Editor is a web application for creating, managing, and distributing fabrication content for detailed piping in Revit.
Use MEP Content Editor to manage manufacturer-specific content to generate better estimates, create more accurate detailed models, and directly drive MEP fabrication.
What is MEP Content Editor Sync?
MEP Content Editor Sync is a desktop application for managing fabrication configurations between the cloud and Revit.
Use MEP Content Editor Sync to:
- Upload fabrication MEP configurations to the cloud for modification in MEP Content Editor
- Download and sync configurations into Revit
What is a fabrication configuration?
Project requirements vary by company, region, and country. Building your own content is one method or approach that could be used for procuring and updating MEP fabrication content for a project.
To build your own content, Autodesk provides a comprehensive, unlocked sample manufacturer dataset, and a generic dataset based on industry standards. These can be used as templates to create content and services that meet your individual needs. By opting to build your own libraries of content, you could have access to a dataset that matches your business needs, is fully controlled by you, and is compatible with Revit and the Autodesk Fabrication products.
How do I manage fabrication configurations in the cloud and use them in Revit?
Identify and locate the fabrication configuration to modify, such as Snowdon Towers Sample Configuration.
Upload the configuration with MEP Content Editor Sync.
Note: Currently, all configurations are hosted on a US data center. In MEP Content Editor, open and edit the configuration.
- Use MEP Content Editor to create a service, edit parts, create a specification, and view relationships between parts.
- If you’re the Admin of the configuration, you can also assign other users to be Contributors (who can edit the configuration) or Viewers (who can access the content but not edit the configuration).
Upload the revised configuration with MEP Content Editor Sync.
To use the revised configuration in a Revit model, use MEP Content Editor Sync to download the configuration to Revit.
You need to access the MEP Fabrication settings and specify a configuration or reload the configuration in an existing model.
How do I get access to MEP Content Editor?
End user access to MEP Content Editor can be controlled by account admins under User Management through manage.autodesk.com. Admins can find MEP Content Editor under the list of assignable items under Flex, Token Flex, AEC Collection, or Revit. See Assign product access for more info.
