Studies

A study represents a single analysis or analysis sequence, and includes all the setup and processing conditions for the analysis, such as material, injection location, coolant, or mold open time etc. Studies are saved in a project.

Each study that you create is displayed in the Project View pane. All the study setup and processing information is shown in the Study Tasks pane, which is located beneath the Project View pane. You can create study notes to remind you of important facts.

The symbols displayed to the right of the study name in the Project View pane provide a visual indication of the types and sequence of analyses for each study. A filled symbol complete indicates results are available, while an outlined symbol not run indicates that the analysis has not yet been run. An outlined symbol with a red cross failed indicates that the analysis failed.

The Study Tasks pane lists the tasks you need to perform to set up an analysis. The default action for a task can be initiated by selecting the Study Tasks pane. For example, selecting the Analysis Sequence task allows you to change the analysis sequence. As you complete each task, a green tick will be displayed next to that task. When all tasks have been completed, Analyze becomes active. You can then launch the analysis by selecting the analyze Analyze icon. When the analysis has completed, the results are displayed in a folder in the Study Tasks pane.

When an analysis is launched on localhost or a network computer, the study file is copied and the analysis performed in a working directory and these can be found in your temporary directory-also on your local drive.

Working directories enable the analysis, which may create large temporary files, to run by using different disk resources than the actual project directory. This is critical if the project is on a network drive. Working directories also enable the analysis to run in isolation from the main project directory, unaffected by any file- locking issues that could occur.

Tip: Many useful tasks can be accessed simply by right-clicking on the Study Tasks pane.
