Assembly

Most molded parts are assembled with other parts. Often how the parts are assembled is critical.

When looking at deflection results and considering warpage, you need to understand how the part is assembled. There are typically many assembly features such as snap fits, screw bosses, and sealing surfaces. To consider warpage, typically it is easiest to determine what three assembly features engage first. Then, set up anchors relative to the first three attachment points.

In the image below, the part is assembled with 4 screws, (not shown). Three of the four screw bosses are used to define the anchor plane and the sealing surface is evaluated relative to the mating part.
