Change in shape

Warpage is defined as a change in shape.

When several warpage analyses are run, the shape of the warpage may change, when inputs change such as geometry, material, gate location, and processing conditions. Using a consistent anchor system between all the studies is the best way to identify the changes in shape. Often a consistent anchor system is used with other techniques to aid in the interpretation of shape change such as use of layers.

In the following figure, the part's warpage changes from a combination of twist and bow on the left, to mostly bow on the right. An anchor system is used in three corners of the part to compare deflections between studies.
