Deflection, Deviation from part design

The Deflection, Deviation from part design result shows the geometric deviation between the final part shape and the original part design (geometry before scaling up to compensate for molding shrinkage).

Note: For this result to be available, select the Cavity dimensions include mold shrinkage allowance. Adjust constraint positions automatically option on the Warp Settings page of the Process Settings Wizard
Tip: To view the Deflection, Deviation from part design result through the thickness of a 3D part, alter the result display to Contour (right click the result name in the Study Tasks pane and select Properties > Methods tab > Contour).

warp 3d contour

A Dual Domain part shows surface contours only but Deflection, Deviation from part design result through the thickness can often be inferred.

Using this result

A warp analysis with the Cavity dimensions include mold shrinkage allowance. Adjust constraint positions automatically option activated outputs not only the total deflection results but also the geometric deviation between the final part shape and the original part design.

This net deflection plot shows you the total deviation from the part design. The Deflection, Deviation from part design result is therefore a useful result to examine to identify any tolerance problems and optimize the design.
