Licensing

Most of the licensing information you require is described in detail in the Autodesk publications Installation for individuals, and Installation for administrators.

This supplement tells you about the license and tier you need for various analyses, and some additional Moldflow specific information.

If you buy a subscription, there are various licensing options you can choose from. If you don't have a subscription you can still run analyses with Autodesk Flex using Flex tokens.

Subscription options

Moldflow licenses are available according to the subscription you have.

Named User licence:

The Named User license is a single-user license that is assigned to a specific user using their Autodesk ID. This license is ideal for users who need to run analyses on a regular basis. You can install the licensed product on more than one computer, but you can only run the user interface on one computer at a time.

Note: With a Named User license, you can also use Flex tokens at the same time, on a pay-per-result basis, if you want to run more than 3 concurrent analyses.

Network licence:

The Network license is a multi-user license that is assigned to a server. This license is ideal for users who need to run analyses occasionally and can share access to the licenses. The Network License Manager is installed on one or more servers on the network to manage the distribution of licenses to users. The number of users who can run the software simultaneously is limited by the number of licenses you have.

Non-subscription options

Autodesk Flex:

Autodesk Flex is a pay-as-you-go option. If you don't have a subscription to Moldflow software, as long as you have an Autodesk Account you can buy and use Tokens for occasional access. See the Flex Rate Sheet for the estimated cost per day.

Note: While Moldflow Synergy is available on a pay-per-day basis, you can also run Moldflow Insight solvers on a pay-per-result basis, which is a good alternative if you only need to run one or two analyses.
Note: From the Moldflow 2025 release, the default option for Insight solvers is pay-per-result.
