Second shot injection-compression overmolding

Injection-compression overmolding is extended in this release, to support injection molding for the first shot and injection-compression molding for the second, overmolding shot.

Using our existing injection-compression overmolding analysis, you can simulate 2-shot overmolding where the first shot is injection-compression molding and the second shot is injection molding. This feature has been enhanced to support the reverse; injection molding for the first shot and injection-compression molding for the second, overmolding shot.

This feature is supported by the following mesh type:

Workflow

1. Select Thermoplastics injection compression overmolding as the molding process.

   

2. Select the analysis sequence. The first 5 analysis sequences are the original options, but they have been renamed more explicitly to distinguish them from the new analysis sequences. The bottom three new analysis sequences use injection compression molding in the overmolding step.

   

3. Continue to follow the instructions in the help.

Four new results are produced for the injection-compression overmolding stage:
