Explanation

Assign the valve gate property to all tetrahedral elements in the cross section of a valve gate. If you don't, the flow path through the valve gate will remain partially open even when the valve gate closes.

Resolution

Assign the hot gate (3D) property and valve gate controller to all tetrahedral elements in the cross section of a valve gate. To do this:

1. Go to the "Mesh" Ribbon menu and choose the "Select" tool.
2. Select all tetrahedral elements in the cross section of a valve gate.
3. From the "Properties" panel of the "Mesh" menu, use "Assign" or "Change" to assign the "Hot gate (3D)" property to the selected elements.
4. "Edit" the selected elements' properties and click the "Valve gate control" tab to assign a "Valve gate controller".
