To set up/edit sub barrel controller settings

Set up the sub barrel controller settings from the Boundary Conditions tab.

Each sub barrel that you set up must only be used once. Duplicate the sub barrel if you want to use the same sub-barrel on multiple nodes, or if you want to use multiple sub barrels with the same process settings.

1. Click (Boundary Conditions tab > Multiple Barrel panel > Set Locations).

2. Select the sub barrel controller you want to edit, then click Edit.

3. Enter the Melt temperature, Maximum machine injection stroke, Machine screw diameter, and Maximum machine injection pressure.

   Note: When the injection pressure at a barrel exceeds its injection pressure limit, a warning message is produced and the pressure is capped at the pressure limit of the barrel.

4. Where appropriate enter an injection delay

   • By time
   • By ram position

5. Select the filling control

   • %Stroke vs %ram speed
   • Stroke vs ram speed

6. Click Edit profile and enter filling profile values and machine settings.

   Important: Ensure that you set a flow rate if you select %Stroke vs %Ram speed.

7. Select the velocity/pressure switch-over control.

8. Select the Pack/holding control

   • %Filling pressure vs time
   • Packing pressure vs time

9. Click Edit profile and enter pack/holding profile values.

10. Specify a cooling time.

    Note: There is no automatic cooling option.
    Tip: Cooling time is not required for a Fill analysis.

11. Enter a name to differentiate this sub barrel controller from other ones that you set up.

12. Click OK to close this dialog.
