Custom Properties
Property information brought into Navisworks from a CAD application cannot be edited, with the exception of color, transparency, and links. You can, however, add your own custom information to any item in the model scene.
Add a Custom Properties Tab
- Open the Properties window.
- Select the object of interest in the Scene View or on the Selection Tree.
- In the Properties window, click the Custom button > Add New User Data Tab. The new property category is added for the currently selected object. By default, the tab is called User Data.
Rename a Custom Properties Tab
- Open the Properties window.
- Click the custom tab you want to rename.
- In the Properties window, click the Custom button > Rename User Data Tab.
- Enter a new name for the tab in the box provided.
- Click OK.
Delete a Custom Properties Tab
- Open the Properties window.
- Click the custom tab you want to delete.
- In the Properties window, click the Custom button > Delete User Data Tab.
Add a Custom Property
Open the Properties window.
Click the custom tab where you want to add a property.
In the Properties window, click the Custom button > Insert New Property, and click the property type you want to add. Choose:
- String - if the property value is a string
- Boolean - if the property value is Yes or No
- Float - if the property value is a decimal value, for example: 1.234
- Integer - if the property value is a positive whole number (1, 2, 3,...), a negative whole number (-1, -2, -3,...), or zero (0)
Enter the name for the property in the Property box, and press ENTER.
To change the values right click > Edit Values, enter the value associated with your property into the box provided, and click OK.
Note: For Boolean properties, right click > Edit Values will show a checkbox. Checked is true, unchecked is false.
Edit a Custom Property
Open the Properties window.
Click the custom tab where the property you want to edit is located.
To rename the property, right-click it, click Rename, and enter the new name in the box provided. Click OK.
To edit the property value, right-click it, click Edit Values, and enter the new value in the box provided. Click OK.
Note: For Boolean properties, right click > Edit Values will show a checkbox. Checked is true, unchecked is false.
Delete a Custom Property
- Open the Properties window.
- Click the custom tab where the property you want to delete is located.
- In the Properties window, click the Custom button > Delete User Data Tab.
