Manual support editing

Adjusting and modifying support elements already generated

Tools for manual editing

  • Select as needed: Select individual support entities or use a selection frame. The chosen edit applies to all selected ones. There is also a function to automatically select any support entities connected to the one you clicked. Helpful when working with bouquets, for example.

By default, unselected supports are blue, selected supports are light blue. To change the colors, use

  • Move, scale, trim, reinforce, delete: Move connection points ( "anchors") to adjust shape of support elements and their places of contact, scale along X and Y, clear sections, instantly duplicate existing polylines, or remove entire support entities
  • Change shape generation rules: For example, turn a patterned wall into a solid one, switch the cross-section contour of bars, or change projection settings to reduce or avoid unwanted part-to-part connection
  • Target or avoid other part surfaces: Manually add a knee or a curve to support volumes, or specify surfaces as targets for volume and bar supports
  • Adjust support density with a volumetric map: Modifying the density map updates any generated supports set to follow these maps immediately.
  • Optimize lattice bar support: Perform a simplified metal powderbed fusion build simulation to calculate new thicknesses or even removal of excess support bars
