The Construction Geometry dialog displays, Type is set to Plane and Method is set to Through Three Points.

  2. Select an Extent Type option to establish the end point of the plane.

  4. Select the second vertex or snap point.

  5. Select the third vertex or snap point.

  6. Click OK.

The new construction plane displays in the canvas, passing through the three vertices or snap points you selected.

Tips

  • Create construction planes when you want to create sketches that do not lie on one of the 3 default planes.
  • Use construction planes as the input for other tools, like the cutting tool for the Split Body tool.
  • Use a Plane Through Three Points when you want to create a connecting body between existing bodies.
  • Snap points help on complex or periodic faces where vertex-only picks are limiting.
  • To change any of the three locations after you create the feature, select it in the timeline or browser and use Edit Feature.
