If you provide a large array of tools and want to group them in an intelligible fashion within their catalogs, you can use tool categories. Categories are simply XML grouping nodes. They are not displayed in the Tool Palettes window. Categories can be used to group not only tools, but also stock tools, tool palettes, packages, and other categories. A category maintains a list of items for each type of item that it contains. A category may be embedded in a catalog file, or it may reside in a linked XML file.
