Downloading Media on PIX for macOS

If you have been granted download permission on a project, you will see that when you select certain files, that the Download button is active. If you are not able to download, please reach out to your project's Gatekeeper to discuss adjusting your permissions.

Users who have been granted download access to files can download media to computers or their iOS device. For more information about downloading on an iOS device, please see: Downloading from PIX for iOS

Download Media from anywhere in the project

You can download media from anywhere in your project - PIX Inbox, the Bin, My Playlists section, or the Files section. You can also download a file while viewing it in the Viewer.

To download media:

  1. Select the items you wish to download or open the file in the Viewer.
  2. Click the Download button in the top toolbar, or go to File > Download Item.

Drag and drop items from PIX to your computer to download them:

  1. Select items to download.
  2. Drag-and-drop the items to the desired location on your computer.

If you have dragged media into your Bin, you can download items by selecting them in the bin, and clicking the Download button in the bottom right of the Bin, or you can use the Download button in the top toolbar.

Monitor your Downloads

Once you have started downloading, a Downloads window will appear.

To bring up this window at any time, go to Window > Downloads - Or use the Command-Option-L keyboard short.

To cancel a download, use the X button in the top right of the item in the download window.

Use the dropdown in the bottom left corner of this window to cancel or clear all downloads at once.

Choose where downloaded items are saved

You can adjust where your downloaded items are saved on your computer.

  1. Go to PIX > Preferences.

  2. Select the Local Disk tab.

  3. Check the option you prefer:

    • Always ask me where to save files
    • Save files to - and browse your computer to choose a download location.

How are users granted download access?

Users can be granted download access to media in the project one of two ways:

  1. They are granted folder-level download access, meaning that the download permission is applied at the folder level. For more information on adjusting folder permissions, please see: Adjusting Folder Permissions
  2. They are sent downloadable files via PIX's Send for Download Feature
