Frame Capture on PIX for iOS

The ability to take a frame capture (screenshot) of video is somewhat restricted on the PIX for iOS applications, as it requires that a user have download access to the video file in order to take a frame capture while viewing.

This access will expose a Capture Frame button which is used to save the screenshot.

If you need download access to files, contact your project's Gatekeeper.

Capturing Frames of video on your iOS device

*How to Frame Capture: *

  1. Open a video file in PIX.
  2. Expose the toolbar atop the viewer by hitting the ellipsis.
  3. Select the Capture Frame icon.
    • If it is your first time using Frame Capture, PIX prompts you to permit access to the device's camera roll, which is where frame captures are saved. You will need to allow this access in order to use Frame Capture.
  4. The screen will flash white after hitting the icon, indicating a capture. There will be a brief load spinner next to the icon while the capture exports.
  5. A green checkmark appears in place of the loading spinner after the save of the capture completes.

Watermarks on Frame Captures

The captured frame will include your PIX watermark when:

  • You have not already downloaded the clip.
  • The clip has been sent to you as a send for download.

The captured frame will not include your PIX watermark when:

  • You have downloaded the clip.
  • You have watermark-free (clean) viewing access to a clip.

How to take screen captures of Images, PDFs, and Offlined video

You can screenshot Images and PDFS using your device's native screen capture feature.

If you have offlined clips via PIX's Save for Offline Viewing feature, then you can also screenshot any of the offlined clips using your device's native screen capture feature rather than the download-dependent Frame Capture feature.

If you are not able to save clips offline and would like to use that feature, please contact your Gatekeeper.

Depending on your iOS device and the model, that native screen capture process may differ.
