General Navigation on PIX for Windows
Enter your project
After you log in, you will see a feed of messages that others within the project have sent you. This is your PIX Inbox.
Messages are displayed in chronological order, with the most recent at the top. If your PIX Inbox is empty - don’t worry! That just means you haven’t been sent any content yet to view.
If you would like to switch your Inbox’s layout to Thumbnail view, select the Thumbnail view icon in the top right corner of the window.
When in thumbnail view, your message feed will disappear.
Click the list icon to go back to the list view.
Navigation Tools
Along the left side of the window, you will see the Navigation Panel. Use this panel to find your way around your PIX project.
The icons from top to bottom are:
- Search - click the magnifying glass to search the project for specific content
- Inbox Messages - content sent to you on the project is stored here.
- Files Section - content in a project is uploaded and organized in the Files section. If you have access to this section, you will see folders listed in this section.
- My Playlists - playlists you create are stored here.
- User Admin Tool* - a tool used for managing other user’s access on the project
- Information - click this to make sure you are on the most updated version of PIX
*You may not see this icon as it is limited to User Administrators (User Admins) on a project and will need to be approved for use by your project’s Gatekeeper.
Along the top, in the center, you will see the name of the project you are in. Clicking the name of the project will take you back to your project list, where you will be able to select a new project.
You will see an upload cloud to the left of your name. Click the cloud to start uploading files to your project.
If you would like the app to go Full Screen click the button to the right of your name.
Working in your project
As you select different types of media within the project, the menu along the top bar of the interface will change, offering you various actions such as view, share, add to playlist, download, etc.
You must have proper permissions on the project to be able to share, download, or delete material, so if you notice that certain permissions are greyed out, please contact your gatekeeper.
If you right-click on any item, you will expose the More Actions menu, which will provide you with the same actions, in addition to adding to a playlist, or renaming a file, adjusting permissions, etc.
Getting File info
To view more information about a file, folder, or playlist bring up the Information Panel (Info panel).
There are several different ways to bring up a file, playlist, or folder’s Info Panel.
- In your inbox, if you are in list view, you can expose a file or playlist's info panel with a right-click on the thumbnail > Get Info. A single click on the thumbnail will start playback immediately.
- In thumbnail view, clicking the thumbnail will expose the Info Panel on the right side of the screen.
- In the Files section, select your item and hit the Info (i) button in the right of the Top Toolbar
The Info panel is your one-stop-shop for information about an asset. It shows a preview of the file, the description, File specs, and other important metadata for the file.
The vertical ellipsis next to the filename will expose the More Actions menu, from which you can choose additional tasks such as viewing or sharing.
To hide the info panel, click the X in the top right corner of the panel.
