PIX Email Notifications

There are a couple of different types of notifications users can receive from PIX regarding their projects.

  • Send Alerts
  • Activity Alerts

Send Alerts

When users receive media in their PIX Inbox, they will get an email notification (Send Alert). Clicking the link will launch PIX, prompt a login, then the media will be displayed in the viewer.

When users share media with other users in a project and have the Send Alerts box checked - this will generate a Send Alert to the recipients.

Send Alerts cannot be turned off for recipients, as sending this alert is in the hands of the sender.

Activity Alerts

In PIX, Activity Alerts are usually not set up by default and will need to be set up by PIX (with Gatekeeper approval) on a project-by-project basis. Through these automated notifications, users can monitor general activity within the project.

There are several actions on PIX that we can set up Activity Alerts for:

  • Sharing media
  • Annotations (Notes)
  • Approvals/Declines
  • File uploads and downloads
  • File views
  • Overall activity report summaries that include the actions above all in one daily, weekly, monthly summary.

Activity Alerts can even be customized to alert about the activity of a particular user or a particular folder. For example:

  • Need to know when a Director makes notes? Set up an Activity Alert to alert Editorial when a Director leaves notes in PIX
  • Need to know when dailies have been uploaded? Set up an Activity Alert to alert Post Production admins that dailies have been uploaded to the Dailies folder.

Most alerts can be generated for delivery in a variety of time intervals and notifications are not delivered if no activity occurs. A user will never get an activity alert for activities involving folders or media that they do not have access to within the project.

If you have questions about setting up email notifications for activity in your project, please reach out to your Gatekeeper and PIX Support.
