View Media on tvOS

Select an item to view

  1. Swipe Up or Down on your Siri Apple TV Remote to select an item or playlist.
  2. Press to click the Touch surface to view an item or expose playlist contents for view.

Play clips using the Siri Remote

The Siri Remote performs some different functions depending on the type of content you are viewing.

Here is an overview of the remote’s controls for clip playback in tvOS.


Playing Clips

When viewing clips, use the Play/Pause button to play and pause.

To fast forward or rewind:

  • While playing, press-and-hold the left or right edge of your remotes Touch surface.

Adjust Time Display

To bring up the current runtime and the duration of the clip, tap the Touch Surface once.

To bring up the current local time and the local time at which the clip will end, tap the Touch Surface twice.


Skip through content

Press the left or right edge of the Touch Surface button to jump ahead or go back by 10-seconds.

Playlists will auto advance to the next clip after playing to the end of a clip.

Press the Menu button to return to the list of content in the playlist to more quickly navigate between files.


Show more information

Swipe down on remote to reveal the Info Overlay which includes the Clip Title, Inbox Message, and who it was sent by.

Note: the Subtitles and Audio features are default sections provided by Apple that do not presently interact with PIX.

View Images and PDFs using the Siri Remote

Here is an overview of the remote’s controls for image and PDF viewing in tvOS.


Inside the Image and PDF Viewer

Click the Touch surface once to toggle information on/off about the file along the top of the viewer.

Press Play/Pause to zoom in and out of the image or PDF.

Press Menu to exit the viewer and return to the previous screen.


Viewing PDFs with Multiple Pages

Swipe up/down on the Touch surface to scroll through a multipage PDF document.

A page counter will be displayed on the right side of the screen as you scroll.


Swipe from left to right to go back to the previous item or right to left to go to the next item in a playlist.

You can also tap the left edge of the touch surface to go back to the previous item or tap the right edge to go to the next item.

You may only navigate by tapping on a clip while it is playing.

A counter will appear along the top of the screen to let you know what item number you are viewing.


Resume Playback

The orange progress bar allows you to quickly see how far along you are in the file. Pick up where you left off on audio, clips, PDFs, and playlists between your browser, Windows, tvOS, and iOS platforms.
