Share Media with an Expiration on PIX for Browser
You can share content in PIX for Browser with an expiration. When sent with this option, the content you share will be removed from the recipient's Inbox upon expiration.
Get Access to Send with Expiration
You must have the ability to send content to use the Send with Expiration feature. If you do not have the ability to send content, request permission from your project’s gatekeeper.
Share a Playlist with expiration
While you can share an individual item for expiration, it is strongly recommended that any content you share be enclosed within a Playlist.
To share with an expiration:
- Select the Playlist you wish to share.
- Right-click and select Share, or click Share from the top menu.
- The New Message will appear.
- Enter recipients, a subject, and a message.
- Select Options in the bottom left-hand corner of the send window and choose Send with Expiration.
- Click the date/time field and choose a date and then a time from the calendar for the content to expire. You can also manually type in a date/time. (Note: the date/time will respect the timezone you are in).
- Click anywhere to move out of the Options window, and then hit Share to send the content.
Send a notification with the expiry time and date
- Leave the Send Alerts box checked to send the recipients an email notification.
- The notification will contain a link that takes the recipient directly to the item after logging in. The email will also list the date and time the content is due to expire.
- Uncheck the box to prevent an email from being sent.
In the Recipient's Inbox
Once the expiration for the content has completed, the recipient will still see the message in their PIX for Browser inbox.
The expiration date/time will still be visible under the sender's name, and to the right, there will be a message stating that All items in this message have been removed from PIX.
Remove or change an expiration date
An expiration cannot be edited once it has been set. To cancel or adjust an expiration:
- Send the item or playlist as a Normal Send, giving the recipient unlimited time to access the content. (This cancels the expiration).
- Send the item or playlist again with a new expiration date/time. (This adjusts the expiration)
Important Notes about sending with an Expiration
- Playlists sent with an expiration cannot be edited. To make a playlist editable again it must be re-sent without expiration to all recipients who received it with an expiration.
- A recipient cannot forward a playlist or create a new playlist using items that have been sent to them with expiration.
- On the Activity tab of a playlist or file, the expiration date/time will be visible.
- If a recipient has folder access to files that have been sent to them for expiration, their access to those files via the Files section will not be removed.
