Upload New Media on a Browser

Before uploading to PIX, make sure that your media meets PIX Specifications.

You must have upload permission enabled for you to specific folders on your project to upload files. Files can only be uploaded to the Files section of your PIX project (you cannot upload media to your PIX Inbox).

If you do not have permission to upload, contact your project’s Gatekeeper.

Upload Files

When media is posted in your project, it's organized in folders. By default, the files and folders you post inherit the permissions of the parent folder that they are placed in.

You can adjust folder permissions if you want to restrict access to media that you upload by right-clicking on a folder and selecting Permissions.

Drag and drop files from your computer anywhere into the PIX for Browser interface to start uploading.

If you drag and drop onto a specific folder, the files will be uploaded to that folder within the Files section. You can change this by selecting a different folder from the drop-down menu.

Use the Upload Cloud

If files are not conveniently located on your desktop, you can click the Upload Cloud next to your name in the top right corner to open the upload window. Here you can:

  1. Choose a Location destination within your project.
  2. Browse and Choose files from your computer.
  3. Click Begin Upload when ready.

The newly uploaded media will inherit permissions from its parent (enclosing) folder. For more information about how file permissions work, and how they can be altered, see the help page for adjusting folder permissions.

Monitor your Upload

The progress bar will highlight green while the upload is active. You will also see a percentage of completion in the top right corner of the browser window.

You can also choose to add more files to the current upload session by clicking + Add More Files.

Use the More Actions (vertical ellipsis) menu to Pause, Resume, or Cancel all uploads.

When the upload completes, the progress bar will disappear, and you will see a banner along the bottom of the screen that alerts you it has completed.

Use the History tab to see a list of completed uploads for your current session.

Get email notifications on uploads

You will automatically get email notifications containing the progress of your upload. PIX will let you know which files have been posted successfully, which are in progress and which are queued. You will also be notified if any uploads failed.

Other people may also get notifications when you upload new media. Only people with access to the files via the Files section can receive these notifications.

Contact your Gatekeeper and PIX to set up or adjust upload email notifications.

Processing messaging

Users attempting to view a newly uploaded file that is still processing for playback in PIX will receive this message, explaining that the file is processing and gives an ETA for when the file will be viewable.
