To add a component or line to a P&ID drawing

In the P&ID tool palette, click the tab that contains the item you want. Click the item (do not drag it).
Click the location in the drawing area where you want to place the item. If you are placing an inline item, click the line.
Note: If you are adding equipment to a pipe line, make sure the join type is set to segment group breaker.
If you are prompted to specify a scale factor (for example, when you place a tank), do one of the following:
- Press ENTER to accept the default scale.
- Move the cursor vertically to increase or decrease the component height.
- Move the cursor horizontally to increase or decrease the component width.
If the Assign Tag dialog box is displayed, do one of the following:
- If you know the tag data you want to enter, add the information, and then click Assign.
- If you do not know the tag data you want to enter, click Cancel. You can add tag information at another time by clicking the Home tab P&ID panel Assign Tag.
