Create and modify geometric groups. Add geometric items to groups.
Geometric groups contain and organize geometric items in the inspection sequence. You can create two types of geometric items:
- Probed items specify the item by probing points on the part.
- Constructed items create the item using existing reference items. For some constructed items, you can enter parameters to modify the reference items. Constructed items are updated if you update the reference items.
Create a geometric group
- Select the Definition level in the inspection sequence.
- Choose .
- In the Geometric Group dialog, edit the details of the group, and click OK.
PowerInspect creates and opens the group.
Modify a geometric group
- Double-click the name of the group in the inspection sequence.
- To extend or trim linear items to their intersections, select Automatically Trim Entities.
- To specify the default tolerances for items added to the group, do one of the following:
- Enter values in the Low Tol and High Tol boxes.
- Click Define Tolerance
to use the values in the Tolerance Database.
- To apply changes to default tolerances for items already in the group, select Update Tolerances of Existing Entities.
- In the Coordinate System list, choose the alignment relative to which you want to report the measurements of items added to the group. Choose
<Active Alignment> if you want to specify the alignment during the course of the inspection.
If you choose <Active Alignment>, you can choose the active alignment in the Measure tab > Current panel.
- To apply the alignment to items already in the group, select Update Coordinate System of Existing Entities.
Note: When creating inspections for CNC and Manual machines, you can also specify the alignment by adding Active Alignment Items to the inspection sequence.
Add a geometric item to a geometric group
- Use the Geometry tab to add the items you want to measure to the inspection sequence.
